A Day in the Life
• 8.45am - Arrival routine
o The children:
Select a name tag for their coat peg
Put their lunch box on the trolley
Select their name and answer the daily question with a parent
Select an activity to play
• 9.30am - Morning group time
o We say ‘Good Morning’ to each other
o An adult leads a group time activity planned around childrens next steps
o The lead adult explains the day’s activities.
• 9.45am – 11.15am - Free flow : inside & outside
o Continuous provision
Water & Sand
• 10am – 10.30am - Supervised Self-serve Snack available during free-flow
• 11.15am - Tidy-up time
• 11.15am - Group time
o Which involves ‘Show & Tell’ and then an activity which may be:
Music & Movement / Circle game
Singing / Action Rhymes
Letters & Sounds (Jolly Phonics scheme)
Group time finishes with our ‘Goodbye Song’
• 11.45am - Lunch
• 12.15pm - Afternoon session begins
o We offer places to children from 2 yrs old in our afternoon session.
o The afternoon structure follows a similar pattern to the mornings.
o Predominately child-initiated and learning tailored for 2 yr olds.
o However we continue to provide targeted activities for every individual stage of learning in the afternoon.
• 3.00pm – End of the day group time
o Small group activity
o ‘Goodbye song’
