For some time, Potterspury Pre-School and its committee have been working very hard to raise funds for an outdoor-area revamp.
With a tired-looking floor, and a gazebo in need of a little TLC, the team pulled together to provide the children with a wonderful new outside play area prior to and during the October half-term.
As a charity, hard work, dedication and team-work – together with a big dollop of imagination – are generally needed to pull off any big changes to the setting. And this is where the staff and committee, family, friends and local supporters came into their own.
The outside area has received a new “grass” wet-pour floor, and a rubber-mulch “carpet” in the gazebo. We were most grateful to Bunnings Warehouse for their kind donation of paint and painting services from their staff; as well as the wonderful people who gave up some of their time to help paint the newly-erected fence, and give the gazebo a revitalising colour brush-up.
Above all, the most treasured item must be our new mud-kitchen, which the children absolutely love, resulting in lots of clothing changes! Put together with some wooden pallets, other donated material and a fantastic creative flair, this wonderful new addition was crafted by Gary Sheridan, husband of co-chairperson Jackie Sheridan. So, huge thanks to Gary and Jackie, who sourced all the materials. 😀👏🏻
The garden was officially reopened by local councillor Allen Walker, who looks after 11 parishes in the Deanshanger ward. Allen has proudly supported Potterspury Pre-School since its inception and we were thrilled to have him cut the ribbon, thank you Allen!
Allen remarked on the progress the Pre-School has made during that time, and it’s important to realise that the Pre-School would not be what it is today if it wasn’t for the amazing and dedicated staff, committee, parents, and other people who have been a part of its journey over the years.
It's safe to say, the children were very happy with their newly-refurbished outside area, and enjoy playing outside in all weathers!
Potterspury Pre-School is a Registered Charity, and as such, fundraising is an ongoing process to enable the setting to continually improve the facilities for the children. All help is gratefully received, and if you would like to get involved or assist in any way, please contact us.
